Naturally Cast by Chris: Welcome to Naturally Cast

Explore a world of truly unique jewelry creations.

Each piece is truly one-of-a-kind and begins with a hand-poured casting from molten Sterling silver or 14 kt. gold.  Depending on the jewelry series, the castings are then used in different ways.

All jewelry, with the exception of the Woodland Series, prominently features or somehow incorporates at least one of my needle or water castings.

The following provides a brief description, photo, and link for each series.
Molten silver is poured into a stack of pine needles resulting in castings that are very unusually shaped and explode with intricate detail.  The silver flows through the openings between the pine needles resulting in a solid silver casting; these are not silver coated pine needles.  Creating needle castings was the start of Naturally Cast.
Molten silver is poured, dropped, or thrown into swirling water resulting in smooth freeform castings with incredible shapes.
Castings of objects found in nature, such as twigs, are cast using the traditional cuddlefish technique resulting in solid castings that replicate the original object.  Gemstones are then added to complement the casting.
Water castings and/or needle castings are fused onto the copper.  The copper is then hammered, formed, and adorned with additional silver and gemstones.
Freeform castings and other pieces of precious metal are embedded and fused into a base metal of copper or silver.
In addition to making pendants, I also make rings, pins, earrings and bracelets.  These usually include smaller versions of water castings or needle castings.

My inspiration is drawn from the process of discovering the true identity  and desire of each casting.

Please note that my photography skills are not at the same level as my jewelry making skills.  Each item is polished to a high luster; this is not always evident in the photographs.

I hope that you enjoy browsing through the pages of the one-of-a-kind creations.

Come back often.  I almost always have new pieces in the works!
